What happens to your donations?
The Missouri Raiders are the oldest re-enactment group in our region, and over the years we have made countless donations to many worthy causes, following is a small insight of the kind of help we have given in the past.
In July 2006 we were able to help Isabel Stevens, a little girl, who after having treatment for cancer, lost all her hair, her one wish was to have her hair back, we were only to happy to help and presented her with a cheque for £300 to have a wig taylor made for her, to date Isabel is doing well and is still in remission.
In 2006, Six year old Jake Storr who suffers from cerebral palsy, was turned down for funding by Lincoln Education Authority, after applying for help to attend aa specialised school to have intensive physiotherapy to help rreach his potential. To attend one day a week would cost £1,440 for fifteen days, through donations they managed to send Jake twice weekly, however Jake still needed three days per week in september of that year, we gave Jake a cheque for £500 towards the School.
Jake came to the club to tell us how he was doing and show his progress. Jake is doing really well and said thank you to us all.
Another request for help we recived was from Grange Junior School, the needed some Alpha Smart word procesers, we gave them a donation for £500 to purchase two of these machines, these will be used by dyslexic children that have difficulty in writing.
Near the end of october 2007 The Raiders becameaware that 1st Ashby Brownies were trying to raise funds to buy a flag for their Sunday parades, they are just a small group so we thought it would be appropriate to give them some much needed help.
Tuesday November the 27th a small group of the raiders went to St Pauls Church hall in Ashby (Scunthorpe) and presented them with a cheque for £100.
Needless to say the Brownies were delighted with their flag while being entranced with our dress, one obvious question being why do we dress like that?
