Ludford camp 2008

Missouri Raiders 4th Annual Charity Roundup

Ludford 2008

Interest in our roundup has been exceptional, and we were fully booked,

The majority the authentic camps and our supporting campers arrived on Thursday to set up camp, we had a fairly busy day but the evening around the camp gave every one a chance to meet old friends and relax.

Friday morning up early and join in the coffee morning held in the village hall, with tea coffee and tom bola the morning was off to a good start, then time to scour the blanket sales you never know just what you might find. New this year was a line dance class for beginners which was very popular, our thanks to Michelle for taking it on (She was wearing her L plates) there was plenty for the rest of the Raiders to do setting up the arena for Saturday etc.

Friday evening our entertainment was provided by Pete Jones (The Egg Man) a most enjoyable night and a great atmosphere.

Saturday morning, (Oh my head!!!!) start with Raiders coffee morning, and a cake stall provided by the village, the Raiders Tom-bola was next to the arena, then  continuing with the adult quick draw, a very late break for lunch, then back to the games, meanwhile in the village hall, one hour of line-dance tuition ran into two hours (were they slow learners? or were they enjoying them selves two much) unfortunately we had a short heavy rainstorm which interrupted the games, even though cowboys would have kept on working, much to the disappointment of some hardy folks we had to stop, there was no way we could write down scores in heavy rain.

Our evening entertainment was Katie Rhodes, our thanks Katie for a great night, our evening ended with the trilogy.

Shhhh!! Tip toe through the camp

Sunday, coffee morning, (Did we really stay up that late) last chance to win a prize on the Tom-Bola then presentation of prizes for all the competitions, our congratulations to the children from Ludford Village they cleaned up nearly all the prizes for under sixteen’s. also thank you to all the adults for taking part in the competitions

Congratulations to all the Raiders and friends in the background who made this a fantastic weekend.

Once again we would also like to thank Denise and Calum of FLB Western Wear for their generous donation of an authentic ladies set and a set of saddle bags to raise funds in an Irish auction, but mostly to all the authentic camps, who help create the atmosphere of our roundup, we are getting one or two more every year, and hope we can keep growing.

If you are reading this, and you were at Ludford with us we nearly did it, thanks to you we collected £948.86.

We are going to be back at Ludford next year, read the 2009 Ludford page for details

Happy Trails Till we meet again.
